Udaipur : The railway administration recently sanctioned Rupees 354 crore for developing Udaipur railway station as the world class station.The work has been awarded to the agency and the redevelopment work which is in progress will be completed in 36 months.
According to Captain Shashi Kiran, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, the redevelopment work of Udaipur station is progressing at a rapid pace under the guidance of General Manager Mr. Vijay Sharma and the LOA for the work has been issued by the Railways to the construction company of Udaipur. The construction work of site office, site laboratory and labor camp has already been started at Udaipur railway station. The number of facilities like car parking, separate gates for arrival/departure, security checking area, 72-meter-wide concourse area including 20 new lifts and 26 new escalators in the main station building will be increased during redevelopment. Both the foot over bridges at the station will be connected to the sky walk. Unreserved waiting room, executive waiting room, retail stalls, toilets, baggage scanner and coach indicator as well as all kinds of modern passenger amenities will be also be provided at the station. The entire project will have green building facilities with features for reduction of energy consumption during construction as well as operation and maintenance, combined with renewable energy resources like waste processing, rain water harvesting etc.
PRO said that the existing railway offices will be temporarily shifted to other places during the station development work. The station redevelopment work will be completed in five phases and will be completed in 3 years.
